Building a website comes with its own rewards and challenges. For starters seeing something created from your idea is enough motivation on its own for it to feel like a reward.
Some of the benefits of having your own blog or site up are:
It can be your legacy
All of us have got something to share. Some eccentric people might think that they got a lot more things to share than other but we all know that is not the truth. Everyone has got worthwhile to impart with others. It might be that there just isn’t enough opportunities open for a person which hinders him from sharing the thing she has that can help others. A website or blog can open up all sorts of opportunities. It gives a person an avenue to let out anything unique about him. A page put up by you is going to be mostly about you. The more that page becomes a hit, the better your legacy would look as a person.
It’s a chance to help others
When you look at your site stats and see a visitor who spent a few minutes in your site, what comes to your mind? Are you just looking at the number or are you thinking that a person found something of value on the content that you posted.
It is easy to get lost in the entire personal quest we might have on why we started putting up pages on the internet in the first place that we forget that we are actually helping people find what they want. No matter how isolated that niche may be there would still be visitors landing on that page and guess what? They probably spent a great deal of time trying to find a page worth reading for a few minutes.
It means income
Visit your favorite blog or website again but this time takes notice of its ads on the sidebar and pop ups displaying products and services. These are of course solid proofs that owning a website or a blog attract businesses. The more popular your site gets the more likely you’ll get more income out of it. Notice the number of ads and the stature of the company putting up an ad on a particular site that you visit. Those two factors would give you a hint of how much money that website is reeling in for its owner.
Above is some of the good stuff that should keep you motivated. And as far as the challenges that would come your way, I would only dare to mention one – increasing website traffic. As tempting as the benefits of owning a website may sound there is a challenge that is tough enough to break even the most motivated fellow. Keep those benefits with you always because you’ll need those to break through the one challenge I’ve mentioned. Increasing website traffic is bound to keep you awake on some nights, just often enough to wipe those benefits off your mind.
